Artichoke Producers in the TRNC Seek Help from the President of Turkey
Artichoke producers from Northern Cyprus have sought support from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey. According to the entrepreneurs, tens of thousands of artichokes will be left to rot in the fields, resulting in losses amounting to hundreds of thousands of Turkish lira.
The statement claims that there are 35-40 thousand artichokes left in the fields, which were intended for export purposes. The total damage to the producers is estimated to be around 400 thousand Turkish lira.
"We cannot consume such a quantity of produce in the domestic market," assert the authors of the appeal.
Social media platforms were chosen as the venue for the message. The message is addressed to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and the Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu.
