The TRNC Internet Providers Association has announced an increase in internet tariffs and issued an apology to users. The Department of Telecommunications has doubled the fees imposed on internet and telecommunications service providers, which will result in higher internet prices in the coming months.

According to the association's statement, this fee hike was implemented without prior notification or consultation with the providers. Members of the association learned about the price increase by chance through the internet.

The association clarified that "the installation and use of fiber optics, along with all processes necessary for providing these services by internet providers in the TRNC, are carried out exclusively through the Department of Telecommunications."

Each provider in the country also sets its own fees and internet charges according to the rules and rates established by TRNC Telecom. All rates set by the Department of Telecommunications are publicly available and published on the courts.net website and in the Official Gazette.

This price increase will lead to higher overhead costs for internet providers by the end of the month, resulting in increased consumer prices as well.

  • It was recently discovered that TRNC Telecom updated the prices when a member of our association happened to see it in one of the mentioned digital media outlets. Detailed examination revealed that the price increase is 100%, and this increase was implemented immediately, including for the current August, without any prior notification or consultation with any provider. We apologize in advance to our customers for the upcoming increase in internet prices due to this situation, which is entirely beyond our control," the association stated.
