The Union of Public Servants of Northern Cyprus (KTAMS) published data on the minimum subsistence level for September 2025. According to the organization's calculations, the amount needed to meet the basic needs of a family of four was 34,158 Turkish lira.

Compared to August, when the figure was 33,356 lira, the minimum subsistence level increased by 802 lira. Thus, the monthly growth was approximately 2.4%, which, according to the union, reflects the ongoing increase in the prices of food and other essential goods.

KTAMS clarifies that the calculations are based on the cost of a "food basket" — a minimum set of products required for healthy nutrition for a family of four. Housing, utilities, transportation, education, and healthcare expenses are not included, meaning that the real cost of living is significantly higher.

The union noted that the constant rise in prices increases financial pressure on workers and families, especially given limited wage growth. KTAMS urges the government to review the minimum wage, social benefits, and income indexing mechanisms to align them with actual inflation and living costs.

The organization also emphasized that regularly publishing data on the minimum subsistence level is necessary to ensure transparency and an objective assessment of citizens' economic situation.
