Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: We've Stepped Up Efforts to Secure the Sovereignty of the TRNC
Turkey has intensified its efforts to ensure the sovereign equality of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the statement while addressing the Anatolian Diplomatic Forum, held this year for the fourth time.
The remarks were published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. In early footage of Erdoğan entering the main conference hall, TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel was seen accompanying him. It was also reported that Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar is attending the forum. A day earlier, Tatar met with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
During his speech, President Erdoğan touched on several key international issues, including the Cyprus problem.
“We have recently stepped up our efforts to secure the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people,” Erdoğan stated. “We will continue this work with patience until justice is achieved on the island.”
He went on to emphasize that lasting peace in the Middle East will only be possible through a two-state solution.
