New Academic Year Begins in TRNC on Monday
The new academic year will kick off in Northern Cyprus on Monday, September 23. Classes were initially set to start this week but were postponed by the Council of Ministers due to delays in appointing teachers.
Thus, the 2024-2025 academic year in public primary, secondary, and high schools under the Ministry of National Education is scheduled to commence on September 23.
Approximately 28,000 students will be attending classes in 128 public and private schools under the Department of Primary Education. Additionally, around 30,000 students will study in 48 public and private schools affiliated with the Department of General Secondary Education.
Furthermore, about 4,000 students from vocational secondary schools will attend 13 schools within the Department of Vocational and Technical Education.
Approximately 450 students will be enrolled at the "Taner Akcan" Vocational Training and Adult Education Center.
In total, around 6,300 teachers will be working across public and private schools throughout the TRNC.
According to the Ministry of National Education, report cards for the first semester will be distributed in primary schools and those under the Departments of General Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Education on Friday, January 31.
The semester break will run from February 1 to 16, with the second semester beginning on Monday, February 17. Report cards and certificates of completion will be issued on Monday, June 16.
The first stage of the college entrance exams (KGS-1) will take place on Saturday, January 25, and the second stage exam (KGS-2) will be held on Saturday, June 14.
Applications for vocational secondary school programs for students who have completed the 8th grade will be accepted from June 18 to 23. The results for admissions into the 9th grade of vocational secondary schools will be announced on June 23.
