With the arrival of spring in Northern Cyprus, the price of bread has risen again
Since March 1, the cost of bread has increased in Northern Cyprus. According to the decision of the Bakers Association, from today the loaf will be sold in the store at a price of 15 Turkish lira.
The President of the Bakers Association, Omer Cirali, announced that a loaf of bread, which cost 13.5 TL before March 1, will cost 15 TL from March 1.
Let us recall that earlier in February a resolution of the Council of Ministers was published in the Official Gazette, according to which the cost of a loaf cannot exceed 12 liras. This decision caused indignation among industry experts. The Bakers Association categorically disagreed with this decision, which increased the cost of a 200-gram loaf of bread to 15 liras. However, then the TRNC authorities intervened in the situation: as a result of technical meetings, an agreement was reached on the maximum price for bread, which should have been 13.5 Turkish liras.
