Northern Cyprus on the threshold of 2026: heightened security measures and pre-New Year preparations

Northern Cyprus is entering the final hours of 2025 amid pre-New Year bustle: both traffic and shopper flows have increased in city centers. Against this backdrop, the Police (PGM) announced that they will operate in an enhanced mode and around the clock, separately urging people not to drive under the influence, not to exceed speed limits, and not to use firearms during celebrations.
Municipalities across the country also stated their readiness to ensure uninterrupted basic services on New Year’s Eve and January 1 (including utilities and emergency services), so that the holidays pass without disruptions.
According to the weather forecast: on December 31, variable cloudiness with rain/thunderstorms is expected, while on January 1 it will be cloudy, with light rain in places until noon.
