Northern Cyprus Covered in Dust from Africa
The Meteorology Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has issued an emergency warning due to dust pollution in the air. Fine particles are being carried into the region from North Africa. This is the first dust alert declared in the area in a month.
According to meteorologists, the warning will be in effect from 12:00 PM today until noon on Thursday, October 10.
"The dust particles from North Africa are expected to cause air pollution in our region. Citizens who are sensitive to dust are advised to take precautions," the department stated.
It is worth noting that the last dust warning in Northern Cyprus was issued at the beginning of September, when fine particles were also brought into the region from North Africa.
