Northern Cyprus presents project to build artificial islands for tourism development

Ambitious plans have been unveiled in Northern Cyprus for the construction of artificial islands aimed at making the region a more attractive tourist destination. The project, inspired by examples from Dubai, envisions creating a series of islands off the coast of Kyrenia and the Karpas Peninsula.
According to published data, the initiative is intended to expand tourism infrastructure and develop coastal areas. The artificial islands are planned to include hotels, residential complexes, leisure zones, and entertainment facilities. Developers say the project is designed to give Northern Cyprus a new economic boost and increase interest from international investors and tourists.
Authorities emphasize that the project is considered a long-term tourism development strategy intended to strengthen the region's competitiveness in the Eastern Mediterranean. At the same time, it is not yet specified how environmental issues will be addressed and how the initiative will affect the marine ecosystem and coastline.
The construction plans have caused significant attention, as such projects could substantially change the appearance of Northern Cyprus’ coastline. Final decisions on implementation will be made after consultations and discussions with potential investors.
