Fatal poisoning in Istanbul: a family from Germany dies after staying at a hotel

A family from Germany arrived in Istanbul on 9 November and stayed at a hotel in the Fatih district. On 12 November, they were hospitalised with symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Despite the doctors’ intervention, the children passed away. The mother died on 14 November, and the father is still undergoing treatment.
According to police, two other tourists who stayed in the same hotel also went to the hospital with similar symptoms. As a precaution, a third person accompanying the patients was also hospitalised.
During the investigation, the police inspected the hotel, after which it was temporarily closed, and guests were relocated to other hotels. A total of 11 people were detained, including the hotel owners, a café owner, vendors, and individuals responsible for disinfection. Four suspects have already been arrested, and the investigation continues.
