An employee of the Land Registry in Nicosia has appeared in court in Northern Cyprus, facing charges of forgery, circulation of forged documents, and obtaining records through deceit.

During the court session, police officer reports indicated that the suspect, Özlem Göztaşı, was arrested on August 21, 2024, for fraud.

According to the investigation, Sadık Öztürk, who had previously been detained in connection with a fraud case, submitted a forged loss declaration on behalf of a company whose land had been sold using counterfeit documents. Özlem Göztaşı, an employee of the Land Registry in Nicosia, processed the loss declaration despite the absence of the necessary documents and issued an original title deed for the company.

The police claim that the original stamp was handed over to the Land Registry in Nicosia on September 3, and the property belonging to the company was sold for £550,000.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the detained employee will be checked for involvement in other similar crimes.

The judge has ordered the suspect to be held for three days.
