Union of Turkish Cypriot Engineers and Architects: human factor turns natural phenomena into disasters
The Union of Turkish Cypriot Engineers and Architects (KTMMOB) stated on December 10, 2025, in Northern Cyprus that the main factor turning natural phenomena into disasters is the human factor. The organization emphasized the need to minimize consequences based on up-to-date data and scientific approaches.
KTMMOB noted that experts warn of continued heavy rains in various districts, including tomorrow. In affected areas, the priority today should be assisting managers, intervention teams, and field workers, as well as following official warnings to reduce damage.
The statement notes that the Union will prepare new proposals based on current data and assess the impact of climate change, planning, and other factors contributing to increased risk of floods and other emergencies.
The organization promised to share the prepared recommendations with the public, support, and promote the implementation of scientifically based measures aimed at preventing more severe consequences.
In conclusion, KTMMOB expressed condolences to those affected materially and morally and confirmed its intention to continue work to reduce risks and monitor the implementation of proposals.
