TRNC Parliament Speaker to Run Again for President of the Republican Assembly
Zorlu Töre, the Speaker of the TRNC Parliament, will once again stand for the position of President of the Republican Assembly, which will be formed in the upcoming legislative year. His term in the Parliamentary Council has ended.
In a recent television interview, Zorlu Töre, a member of the National Unity Party (UBP) and Speaker of the Republic Assembly, announced that he is considering running again for the position of President of the Republican Assembly in the new legislative session.
“There will be new elections for the presidential council. I wish to continue my work, but this depends on our party’s decision. I am hoping for the government’s support. We have fulfilled our duties with integrity over the past 2.5 years. We have achieved significant progress both domestically and in the Turkic republics. In just one year, we passed 120 laws and held 3 extraordinary sessions,” Töre stated.
It’s worth noting that deputies held their final session of the previous legislative year on June 25.
The Republic Assembly will commence its fourth legislative year on Tuesday, October 1.
