US warns: capabilities for assisting Americans in northern Cyprus are limited
The US Department of State has declared that the ability to assist American citizens in Northern Cyprus is limited.
The statement notes that the US Embassy in Nicosia cannot fully provide consular assistance to citizens located in Northern Cyprus.
American citizens were also advised to enter and exit Cyprus only through Larnaca and Paphos airports or through the ports of Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos.
The message emphasizes that the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus do not recognize entry through Ercan Airport and ports in Northern Cyprus as legal.
It is noted that Americans who leave the island via Ercan may face problems when trying to enter areas controlled by the government of the Republic of Cyprus.
Furthermore, the US has authorized some of its employees and their family members to leave Cyprus due to increasing security risks amid the escalating conflict with Iran.
The State Department also raised the travel advisory for Cyprus to Level 3, urging citizens to reconsider travel plans due to the threat of armed conflict and military activity in the region.
The department added that since the conflict between the US and Iran began on February 28, there have been significant disruptions to commercial flights.
