TRNC Students to Receive Free Tuition at Turkish Universities
The Minister of National Education, Nazım Çavuşoğlu, announced that starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, students who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and are enrolled in public universities in Turkey will no longer have to pay tuition fees.
According to Minister Çavuşoğlu, both students and their parents have faced significant challenges in covering the costs of education at Turkish universities.
"Our long-standing efforts and established contacts have led to a positive outcome. The President of Turkey has decided that all our students will be subject to the same principles regarding fees and tuition as students who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey," stated Nazım Çavuşoğlu.
This decision was publicly announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a speech on July 20, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
"We support Turkish Cypriots in all areas. I also want to share good news with the young people. Starting in July, we have decided that all students who are citizens of the TRNC will be subject to the same principles regarding fees and tuition as students who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey," President Erdoğan declared.
Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized the importance of this decision, noting that it opens up opportunities for successful students in higher education.
