Dust Warning Issued in Northern Cyprus Due to African Dust
The Meteorology Department of Northern Cyprus has issued an emergency warning due to dust polluting the air. Fine particles have been carried into the region from North Africa.
According to meteorologists, the dusty weather will persist in the country for 24 hours, starting from 12:00 today until noon tomorrow, January 9.
"As the dust particles are expected to cause air pollution in our region, citizens sensitive to dust are advised to be cautious," the department's statement said.
It's worth noting that the last occurrence of dusty weather in Northern Cyprus was at the end of December, with fine particles also brought into the country from Africa.
