TRNC Sees Increased Demand for Valentine's Day Travel Among Turks
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has become one of the most sought-after destinations in Turkey during the week leading up to Valentine's Day, February 14. Compared to last year, bookings for the holiday have increased by 25–30%.
This was shared by Davut Günaydın, Vice President of the Turkish Association of Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB).
According to Günaydın, the surge in demand this year is partly due to the fact that the holiday falls on a Friday, encouraging many to plan a long weekend getaway.
“Our travel agencies have organized special Valentine's Day tours both within Turkey and abroad. We’re seeing a 25–30% increase in bookings for the pre-holiday week compared to last year,” said the TÜRSAB Vice President.
Domestically, tours to destinations like Cappadocia, the Eastern Express, Kars, Erzurum, and Mardin are especially popular. Hotel occupancy in these high-demand locations, like Cappadocia, is nearing 100%.
Additionally, short trips for Valentine's Day are in high demand, with one-day or weekend getaways to nearby destinations such as Uludağ, Kartepe, and Maşukiye proving to be especially popular.
Internationally, destinations like Paris, Rome, Prague, Barcelona, and Budapest are also seeing strong interest, along with visa-free trips to the Balkans.
