Turkish Singer Volkan Konak Passes Away in Northern Cyprus After Falling Ill on Stage
Renowned Turkish singer and composer Volkan Konak has passed away at the age of 57. He suddenly fell ill during a concert at the Grand Sapphire Resort & Casino in Northern Cyprus.
The beloved artist collapsed on stage in the middle of his performance. He was immediately rushed to Famagusta State Hospital by ambulance, where doctors determined he had suffered a heart attack. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
— "Singer and composer Volkan Konak was brought to Famagusta State Hospital at 12:17 AM after a sudden deterioration in his health. Sadly, despite all medical efforts, he passed away at 12:42 AM," the TRNC Ministry of Health announced in a statement.
Volkan Konak was a household name in Turkey, known for his distinctive musical style and immense contributions to the country’s music culture. Some of his most iconic songs include "Cerrahpaşa," "Mimoza Çiçeğim," and "Yarim Yarim."
