Turkish Airlines has increased the number of passengers to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by 16%
Thanks to the joint efforts of Turkish Airlines and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and the Environment of the TRNC, the number of passengers traveling from Turkey to Northern Cyprus for tourism purposes has increased by 16%.
Starting on November 1, the national carrier of Turkey began flights to Ercan Airport using wide-body aircraft. This increased the seating capacity from 280,000 to 301,000.
Turkish Airlines operates 7 daily flights between Istanbul and Ercan in both directions.
During a press tour at Ercan Airport, the Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, mentioned that the annual capacity of the new airfield has increased from 800,000 to 10 million passengers.
Emphasizing that the new runway allows wide-body aircraft to land, the ambassador noted that this reduces ticket prices and the cost per seat.
It is worth mentioning that the new Ercan Airport opened on July 20. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan himself arrived for the opening of the airfield.
The airport, with its new runway measuring 3,100 meters instead of the previous 2,755 meters, is suitable for the use of all models of passenger aircraft.
