Turkey and Cyprus have entered the top five countries with the lowest penetration of electric vehicles

European countries with the lowest penetration of electric vehicles have been named. Cyprus ranked fourth, while Turkey ranked third.

The study, based on data from the European Statistical Office, was conducted by the Vignette Croatia electronic registration portal.

According to Eurostat, Bosnia and Herzegovina took first place among countries with the lowest use of electric vehicles, where only 0.01% of all vehicles are electric: out of 1,006,142 registered cars, only 138 are electric cars.

North Macedonia took second place, where electric vehicles account for 0.04% of the total number of vehicles. The country has 483,482 registered cars, with 190 electric vehicles accounting for the country's share.

Turkey took third place: only 0.1% of the 14,269,352 registered vehicles are electric, totaling 14,552 electric vehicles.

Cyprus ranked fourth: out of 601,131 registered cars, only 830 have electric propulsion, accounting for 0.138%.

Poland closes the top five: 0.144% of the 21,458,101 registered cars are electric, totaling 30,841 electric vehicles.

The authors of the study emphasize that the data presented in this research are based on information available until 2022. Since then, the percentage of electric vehicle penetration (EV) in Turkey, Cyprus, and other countries may have changed.
