Turkey Approves New Agreement on the Safety of Imported Goods to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
With the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, six international agreements signed by Turkey have been published in the Official Gazette. Among these agreements, Turkish authorities have approved a protocol for cooperation on the safety inspection of products imported into the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
This document formally approves an agreement reached between the authorities of Turkey and the TRNC on January 19. The protocol focuses on the safety of products shipped to Northern Cyprus. Additionally, protocols were approved regarding the exchange of preliminary information about vehicles and goods crossing the TRNC borders, as well as an agreement on an in-kind grant between the governments of Turkey and the TRNC.
Furthermore, the "Protocol of the Joint Turkish-Latvian Committee on Land Transport," signed in Riga on July 13, 2023, was also approved. The document addresses various issues, including the exchange of information about trade and road transport between Turkey and Latvia, cargo transport by road, and the establishment of vehicle quotas for 2023 and a temporary quota for 2024.
The "Protocol of the Joint Turkish-Italian Committee on Land Transport," signed in Rome on October 18, 2023, was also approved. The Turkish and Italian delegations have agreed to cooperate in the field of passenger transportation.
Additionally, the "Agreement for the Creation of an Electronic System for the Exchange of Information on Transported Goods and Vehicles between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Ukraine" was approved. This agreement was signed between Turkey and Ukraine in Istanbul on March 8.
