Teachers to Hold Strike in Iskele Schools
The Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) has announced a strike in schools across the Iskele district. The protest will take place this Friday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
In addition to the schools, a strike will also occur at Iskele Evkaf College at 12:00 PM. The teachers' discontent arises from ongoing issues in the education sector, including a shortage of teachers in educational institutions.
In their statement, KTOEÖS accuses the TRNC Minister of Education of "losing the ability to address problems in education."
"We have submitted a written request for a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss these issues and seek solutions, and we continue to insist on this meeting. If we do not receive a response, we will escalate our resistance," the union representatives stated.
