Over the past week, Northern Cyprus has experienced 11 fires and 24 emergency incidents requiring rescue operations.

According to the weekly report from the General Directorate of Police, the total damage caused by the fires is estimated at 860,000 Turkish lira.

The fires were reportedly sparked by various factors, including electrical short circuits, oil and fuel leaks from car engines, discarded cigarette butts, embers from fireplaces, and burning roofing materials.

Beyond firefighting efforts, emergency responders assisted people trapped in elevators, those involved in car accidents, and even a person stuck in a building shaft. Firefighters also rescued several cats from precarious situations—including one stranded in an irrigation pool, another on a rooftop, and one clinging to an electricity pole.
