Fire Damage in the TRNC Exceeds One Million Lira in a Week
Over the past week, Northern Cyprus experienced 11 fires and 31 incidents that required the intervention of rescue teams.
According to emergency services, between August 12th and 18th, the total damage caused by fires amounted to 1,112,500 Turkish lira.
The fires were caused by various factors, including burning garbage during cleaning, overheating and ignition of electrical outlets, ignition of grease deposits in chimneys, as well as unextinguished cigarette butts and sparks from electrical wires.
In addition to extinguishing fires, firefighters rescued people trapped in elevators, as well as a dog and a goat that were stuck in a garden irrigation pool and a deep well. They also ensured road safety and took precautionary measures to prevent further fires.
