Fires Cause Nearly 1.5 Million TL in Damages in the TRNC Over the Past Week
In the past week, Northern Cyprus has seen 9 fires and 17 emergency incidents that required the intervention of rescue teams. The total damage from these fires amounted to 1,475,500 Turkish Lira.
According to the weekly report from the fire department, potential causes of the fires included short circuits, sparks from electrical wires coming into contact, the ignition of dry grass, as well as the intentional setting of flammable materials and acts of arson.
In addition to extinguishing the fires, firefighters were involved in a variety of rescue operations. They freed people trapped in elevators, extracted a person from a vehicle following a traffic accident, assisted a citizen in removing a wedding ring that was stuck on their finger, and even rescued a crow that had become trapped in a chimney.
