Between April 7 and 13, Northern Cyprus saw 12 fires and 27 emergency incidents requiring intervention by rescue teams. According to the weekly report issued by the Police General Directorate, the total damage caused by the fires is estimated at 1,720,000 Turkish lira.

The likely causes of the fires during this period included short circuits, sparks from contact between electrical wires, oil and gas leaks, carelessly discarded cigarette butts, acts of arson, and oil igniting in a deep fryer.

Beyond firefighting efforts, emergency crews were also called to rescue animals in distress—such as those that had fallen into swimming pools, gotten trapped under containers, or become stuck in wells. The fire department was also engaged in ensuring road safety, implementing fire prevention measures, providing fire safety training, and transporting deceased individuals to hospitals for legal and forensic investigations.
