New Customs Duties on Vehicle Imports in Northern Cyprus
Northern Cyprus has revised its customs duties on imported vehicles, introducing different rates for private and commercial cars, ranging from 4% to 6%, depending on the engine type.
The changes, outlined in the Regulation on the Revision of Fees for Motor Vehicle Registration, Licensing, and Driver’s Licenses, have been published in the Official Gazette and are now in effect. These adjustments are expected to impact the country’s vehicle market.
Under the new regulations:
- Private vehicles (not licensed for public transport use) are subject to a 6% duty for petrol and diesel models and a 4% duty for electric and hybrid vehicles.
- Commercial vehicles, including those authorized for taxi services, are subject to a 5% duty for petrol and diesel models, while hybrid vehicles remain at 4%.
