Ustel: Youth of Northern Cyprus granted rights to rural land regardless of political views
The Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ünal Üstel, spoke at a rural land distribution ceremony, emphasizing that the government has granted land ownership rights to every young person, regardless of political affiliation.
In his speech, Üstel noted that when developing the government’s program, the priority was to ensure that young people could remain in their villages. He stressed that this contributes to the economic development and prosperity of the region. The government aims for young people to live on their own land without leaving their native places, and to contribute to their development.
The Prime Minister also announced the adoption of a new legislative act regulating land ownership rights in rural areas. He pointed out that in the past there had been cases of unfair distribution, and the government had taken steps to prevent such situations from recurring. The goal is to ensure equal rights for all citizens. Üstel stressed that the government acts in accordance with the law to give young people the opportunity to become landowners.
In addition, the Prime Minister noted that the opposition had delayed the adoption of the law, which postponed its entry into force. Nevertheless, the government continued to work in the interests of youth and sought to prevent their rights from being violated. Üstel emphasized that regardless of political affiliation, every young person entitled to land was granted the right accordingly.
The first transfer of land plots took place today in the villages of Pınarlı and İnönü. The Prime Minister expressed hope that these plots would bring their owners happiness and prosperity.
