A fatal accident occurred on the Kyrenia-Alsancak highway, resulting in the death of an elderly woman
A serious accident took place on the circular road between Kyrenia and Alsancak. As a result of a collision involving three cars, a 63-year-old woman lost her life, and two other individuals sustained injuries.
According to the police press service, the accident happened yesterday evening at around 17:30, between the 2nd and 3rd kilometers of the highway. The 28-year-old driver of a passenger car was traveling in the right lane. When attempting to change lanes, he exceeded the speed limit, collided with the car ahead of him traveling in the opposite direction, and then with another car.
Due to the impact, one of the cars veered onto the median strip, collided with a lighting pole, and overturned onto its left side. The driver and two women passengers of this car were injured in the accident. All of them were taken to Akcicek Hospital in Kyrenia.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff, one of the victims, 63-year-old Sevgül Şinasi, passed away. The two survivors were transported to the state hospital in Nicosia.
The police reported that the driver responsible for the fatal accident has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
