Ancient Kyrenia Harbor to Receive New Wooden Yacht Pier
Fikri Ataoğlu, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and the Environment, recently visited the Ancient Harbor of Kyrenia. The existing wooden pier, used by yachts, is in disrepair and will be replaced.
According to the minister, the reconstruction will involve rebuilding the pier “in a more durable and modern style.” Specifically, the lower part of the pier will be reinforced with steel frames, while the top will be covered with wooden decking.
In addition, the new pier will be significantly wider than the current one. Sales tables for yacht tours will be installed, providing a more comfortable experience for visitors to the harbor.
The tender for the project is expected to be announced next week. After the bidding process, a contract will be signed with the winning company in October. Renovation work is expected to begin in November.
Construction will continue through the winter months and is slated for completion by the start of the new summer tourist season.
