A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident involving a drunk driver in Northern Cyprus
In an accident on the main road between Yenierenkoy and Sipahi, a motorcyclist was seriously injured due to the fault of a drunk driver. Over the weekend, a total of three drunk drivers were caught in Northern Cyprus.
According to the police press service, the accident occurred yesterday afternoon, around 16:00, at the 1st kilometer of the main road between Yenierenkoy and Sipahi. A 35-year-old man, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, failed to yield to the motorcyclist who was on the main road while exiting from the secondary road. As a result of the collision, 45-year-old Kamber Kandil was injured.
The injured motorcycle driver was taken to Famagusta State Hospital with skull and neck fractures.
The car driver has been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
The police also note that this is not the only accident that occurred over the weekend due to drunk drivers. A total of three people who were driving under the influence of alcohol have been arrested. All of them were responsible for accidents that occurred in Nicosia, on the main road between Nicosia and Famagusta, and on the Kyrenia - Alsancak ring road. One of them was also arrested for driving without a license.
