Large-scale inspections of businesses carried out in two districts of Northern Cyprus
Police and municipal services of Northern Cyprus conducted large-scale inspections in the districts of Lefkoşa and Girne. The purpose of the inspections was to identify violations of sanitary, labor, and licensing regulations at food establishments, shops, and entertainment venues.
The raids were carried out in coordination with the police and the Ministry of Labor. Inspectors paid special attention to the availability of business licenses, the legality of employment, food storage conditions, and compliance with hygiene standards.
During the inspections in Girne, cases of selling expired goods and violations of food storage temperature requirements were identified. Several businesses were issued orders to correct the violations and were also fined administratively.
In Lefkoşa, police focused on nightclubs and cafes. Checks were conducted on alcohol sale licenses, operating hours, and noise levels. Several venues were fined for violating permitted operating hours and exceeding acceptable noise levels.
Officials noted that such raids will be carried out regularly across all districts of Northern Cyprus. Their goal is to improve service quality, ensure consumer safety, and enforce compliance with trade and food regulations.
Citizens were urged to report cases of unsanitary conditions, illegal employment, or business operation violations to the hotlines of municipal authorities and the police.
