EMU Explains Why Tuition Fees Will Increase
The rectorate of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) has issued a statement regarding new tuition payment rules that will be effective from the 2024-2025 academic year. According to the statement, the country's economic situation does not allow keeping prices at their previous level without compromising the quality of education.
The statement mentions that despite being a non-profit public university and being able to provide education and training services with financial support from the state, the current economic situation in the country has compelled the university leadership to take some measures to continue students' education at the same standards.
Specifically, adjustments have been made to the cost of education in line with inflation for current students.
"We regret to note that a competitive environment has been created in higher education based on low pricing. EMU, which always prioritizes the quality of education and quality scientific research and organizes its infrastructure accordingly, cannot operate within a system based on such unfair competition," stated the university's rectorate.
However, despite all economic difficulties, a new practice will be introduced in our scholarships to further incentivize success.
This includes the opportunity for successful students to receive scholarships of up to 100% upon achieving certain academic accomplishments. Additionally, opportunities for scholarships have been created for many candidate students for entrance exams and scholarship attainment.
Moreover, students are offered the option of installment payments, and new or existing students will be offered a discount for early payment.
"As a result, our university will continue to operate within the framework of understanding human values and social responsibility and will continue to represent our country in all fields as befits a higher education institution," summarized the rectorate.
