Food safety protocol updated in Famagusta
On January 28, 2026, in Famagusta in Northern Cyprus, the cooperation protocol between the Municipality of Famagusta and the KTMMOB Chamber of Food Engineers was updated. The protocol was re-signed by Famagusta Mayor Süleyman Ulucay and Chairwoman of the KTMMOB Chamber of Food Engineers Beste Oymen.
The document covers food businesses operating within the municipal boundaries and was previously signed in November 2023 and implemented in practice with positive results. The objectives of the updated protocol are to improve compliance with hygiene and sanitation rules in catering establishments, raise awareness of food safety, and support inspection procedures.
Within the framework of the protocol, training sessions on hygiene and food safety will be organized for municipal police officers. The KTMMOB Chamber of Food Engineers will provide technical guidance and conduct field observations. Based on the observations, guidance recommendations will be provided to the businesses.
