Man arrested in Famagusta for work permit fraud
In Famagusta, police arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of fraud related to promises of obtaining work permits in the TRNC.
According to the official police statement, the incident occurred in 2025. The suspect, H.D. (33), without a registered workplace or legal authority to issue work permits, misled a citizen by promising to arrange work visas for his acquaintances living abroad.
Under this pretext, the man illegally obtained €6,200, using false statements and abusing the victim's trust. After a complaint was filed, law enforcement began an investigation, during which evidence confirming the fraud was collected.
The suspect was detained, and criminal proceedings were initiated against him. Police continue the investigation, checking the suspect's possible involvement in similar cases.
Law enforcement authorities once again urge citizens to be cautious and not to give money to individuals who do not have official authority to process documents and permits.
