A bust of Atatürk was unveiled in Gönyeli-Alayköy in Northern Cyprus on November 10
The Municipality of Gönyeli-Alayköy in Northern Cyprus held a ceremony on November 10 in memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; as part of the event, a bust of Atatürk was unveiled in front of the municipality building.
According to the municipality, members of the municipal council, mukhtars, commanders, school principals, teachers, students, municipal employees, and representatives of various institutions and organizations operating in the region took part in the ceremony.
The Chairman of the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality, Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, emphasized in his speech that Atatürk is not only a leader, but also a symbol of the republic, democracy, secularism, and the ideals of modernization.
"Today, we did not simply commemorate our leader; we once again jointly expressed our readiness to preserve his legacy. This bust is a symbol of our commitment to Atatürk’s principles and values," said Amcaoğlu, thanking all participants of the event.
He added that sharing this pride with children is important and concluded his speech with the words: "With respect, gratitude, and unwavering devotion... May your soul rest in peace, Atatürk."
