According to the Ministry of Interior, the measures were intensified to combat unregistered residence and illegal employment. Vehicles were stopped one by one, and identity and migration status checks were carried out.
The ministry stated that the purpose of the measures is to ensure public safety, prevent illegal residence and employment, and enhance road safety. The practice will continue across Northern Cyprus, including in Kyrenia, Guzelyurt, and Lefke.
Authorities emphasized that checks will be conducted consistently, with no exceptions: there will be zero tolerance for illegal residence and work.
