Iskele: On August 28, 2025, the Iskele Municipality conducted inspections and suspended the operations of several establishments operating without the required permits. According to the municipality, during the raids 2 hair salons and 1 tattoo studio were closed; one hair salon was sealed, and all three were fined the equivalent of one minimum monthly wage. Police officers accompanied the inspections, and equipment from the closed locations was seized as physical evidence.
Separately, the municipality fined a "beauty center" where illegal Botox procedures were reported. During an inspection conducted in the presence of a representative of the Cyprus Medical Association, Botox products and medical materials for injections were found; the municipality confiscated these items and issued a fine of 102,404 Turkish lira. Additionally, during the inspection, low-quality chicken products from one restaurant were seized and destroyed following a citizen complaint; the establishment received a fine equal to one minimum wage with a warning of possible closure if violations recur.
Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu stated that inspections to protect public health will continue and urged residents to report violations to the municipality. For consumers, this means: check for licenses and documents at salons and eateries; if illegal medical procedures are suspected, contact municipal services.
