Drug case suspect detained in Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus after house search
Police conducted a search of a house in Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus, and detained a suspect on charges of illegal drug possession. The search took place on September 20, 2025, in the Taşkınköy area during the evening hours.
Police officer Şefik Karabadak told the court that the search was carried out by officers of the LPM Crime Prevention Department together with members of the LPM Judicial Department under a court warrant between 20:45 and 21:15.
During the search, three white polyethylene fragments were found on the living room table, along with approximately 2 grams of a substance, believed to be methamphetamine, in a transparent zip-lock bag. Seven white pills, a gas nozzle with a hose, four glass pipes, and precision scales found in a cupboard were also seized.
The suspect, identified by the initials E.K., was arrested and an investigation was launched. The seized substances were sent for analysis, while other physical evidence was referred to the fingerprint examination unit. Police noted that it is necessary to take statements, review camera footage, and identify wanted individuals.
The court session was presided over by Judge Şevket Gazi, who granted the police request and ordered that the suspect remain in custody for seven days for investigation purposes.
