The second phase of sidewalk works on Mehmet Akif Street will begin in Lefkoşa
The Lefkoşa Municipality (LTB) has signed a contract for the second phase of sidewalk improvements on Mehmet Akif Caddesi with Arpalıklı Altyapı ve İhracat Ltd. According to LTB, the project aims to renovate one of the city's most important economic arteries and provide safer and more comfortable pedestrian movement.
The works will cover both sides of the road over a section 800 meters long — from the traffic light on Dereboyu to the roundabout where Mehmet Akif Caddesi turns into Osman Paşa Caddesi. The total investment amounts to 36,483,500 Turkish lira; funding is provided with the participation of the Turkish Republic Development and Economic Cooperation Office and the municipality's own funds. Completion is planned within six months.
For residents and businesses, this means improved pedestrian infrastructure, but also temporary inconveniences: possible partial road closures, changes in traffic organization, and construction noise. LTB asks to follow official municipality announcements regarding temporary restrictions and recommended detour routes.
