In Lefkoşa, those detained after a fight were banned from leaving the country
Police reported that on the night of February 1, 2026, at 03:15, a mass fight broke out outside an entertainment venue on Osman Paşa Caddesi in Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus. Suspects A.S., D.D. and F.B.K. were taken into custody in a case of causing grievous bodily harm; the victim was identified as A.T.
According to police officer Ahmet Sinanoğlu, a verbal dispute erupted between groups of participants and escalated into a physical confrontation. The three suspects allegedly struck A.T. in the face and various parts of the body with their hands. The victim was diagnosed with a depressed fracture around the right eye; after treatment at Lefkoşa State Hospital, he was discharged.
Police noted that during the initial investigation, three CCTV recordings were examined. They show the three suspects standing around the victim, who is holding his eye and then leaves the scene; other individuals attempted to separate those involved in the fight. D.D. and F.B.K. are students, while A.S. is a citizen of the TRNC. The detention was carried out by police order; the initial detention was extended for three days to continue the investigation.
Judge Şevket Gazi banned all suspects from leaving the country. For A.S., the court ordered the submission of two surety bonds totaling 800,000 TL; D.D. and F.B.K. are required to deposit 80,000 TL in cash each and report for attendance twice a week.
