In Lefkoşa, the court remanded suspects in custody over a dispute concerning €80,000
Two suspects accused of kidnapping and aggravated assault will appear in court in Lefkoşa following their arrest on September 8, 2025, police representatives reported.
According to police officer Emine Çıkan, the incident occurred on June 6, 2025, at approximately 21:15: according to the investigation, a group of individuals, believing that M.H. was owed €80,000, assaulted him in a house in Alsancak and placed him in a car. The victim was then taken to the village of Kırikale, where he was assaulted again and held against his will, the police continued.
The arrested individuals are A.B. and S.Z., who face charges of violent kidnapping and aggravated assault. Police reported that in the initial stage of the investigation, 16 surveillance camera recordings were identified, four of which have been reviewed, and four witnesses have been interviewed. According to the investigation, five Pakistani citizens whose names are yet unknown remain wanted.
Judge Şevket Gazi granted the police request and ordered the suspects to be held in custody pending further investigation. The case remains under investigation; the police have requested additional time to obtain statements and review the remaining materials.
