Suspect with drugs detained in Lefkoşa — court remands for 3 days
On January 27, 2026, in Lefkoşa, court proceedings revealed details of the detention of B.S.K., who was apprehended on January 26 by narcotics units on suspicion of importing and possessing narcotic substances, reported police officer Fezile Kesat.
According to the police, a substance suspected to be cocaine weighing 110 grams was found on B.S.K. During the search of the suspect’s car, one precise kitchen scale showing traces of drugs and approximately 10 grams of substance, also suspected to be cocaine, were seized.
During a search of the apartment in Iskele where the suspect stayed with his girlfriend, police observed that the woman was discarding items in the trash. About 500 milligrams of a substance, presumably cannabis, were found in the container. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the woman.
The suspect admitted that he purchased the drugs in Southern Cyprus under the instructions of an unidentified person and received them at a location in Lefkoşa. He also stated that he had previously received deliveries in Lefkoşa and left them at several locations in Girne and Lefkoşa.
Police reported that the investigation is in its early stages, suspects are being sought, and the seized substances will be sent for analysis. Judge Şevket Gazi ruled to extend B.S.K.’s detention for 3 days at the request of the prosecution.
