In a head-on collision on the Kyrenia - Güzelyurt highway, a young 19-year-old boy died
Another fatal accident occurred last night in Northern Cyprus. As a result of a head-on collision between two vehicles on the Kyrenia - Güzelyurt highway, a 19-year-old boy died. Two other individuals also sustained serious injuries.
According to the police press service, the accident happened around 02:30 between the 12th and 13th kilometers of the main Kyrenia - Güzelyurt road. A 32-year-old driver, who according to preliminary information was under the influence of alcohol, crossed into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming car driven by an 18-year-old girl.
As a result of the accident, 19-year-old resident of Alsancak, Bariş Agça, who was a passenger in the second car, died at the scene.
Two other individuals were also injured in the accident and were transported to Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. Doctors diagnosed them with skull fractures, chest injuries, and internal organ damage. One of the injured is in the intensive care unit with a diagnosis of brain hemorrhage.
The police reported that the driver of the vehicle that crossed into the opposite lane has been arrested.
After this accident, the number of people who have died in road traffic accidents in TRNC in 2024 has increased to 11.
Recall that another fatal accident occurred in Kyrenia over the past weekend: a car hit three people on the sidewalk. A 22-year-old student died.
