In May, theater ticket prices increased, while watermelons and melons became cheaper
According to the Statistical Institute of the TRNC, the inflation rate for May stood at 3.50%. Compared to December of last year, prices have risen by 27.28%, with an annual inflation rate of 95.37%.
According to the published data, the highest price increase in the past month was observed in the categories of "education" - 14.09%, "furniture, household appliances, and household care services" - 7.69%, and "other goods and services" - 4.17%.
In the category of "restaurants and hotels," there was an increase of 3.43%, and "entertainment" saw a rise of 2.90%. Food and non-alcoholic beverages became more expensive by 2.41%, while clothing and footwear increased by 2.15%.
Compared to the previous month, there was an increase in the average prices of 465 items included in the index, while 114 items became cheaper.
In May, theater ticket prices at the regular State Theater increased by 150%, lemons by 116.92%, and parsley by 72.64%.
The largest price decreases were seen in watermelons, down by 45.8%, melons by 45.26%, and sweet peppers by 42.61%.
