Butcher Shop in Nicosia Closed for Unsanitary Conditions
The Turkish Municipality of Nicosia’s (LTB) Police Department recently shut down a butcher shop due to poor sanitary practices.
According to a statement on the municipality’s website, a police inspection revealed that the Taşkınköy Butcher shop was slaughtering livestock in unsanitary conditions.
Authorities reported that legal action has been taken against the establishment, and the shop’s products have been confiscated.
It was previously reported that Northern Cyprus has been experiencing an outbreak of the viral disease known as bluetongue, or catarrhal fever, which affects livestock. This outbreak has led to the death of over 150 sheep on farms across the country, with thousands more animals reportedly infected.
