Car Overturns in Ortaköy, Northern Cyprus — Driver and Pedestrian Injured
On March 24, 2026, at around 08:50 AM in Ortaköy, Northern Cyprus, on 5th Street, a vehicle with license plate MF 494 driven by Kazımcan Koçan overturned following a road accident. A pedestrian, Sulay Hatamova, was also injured in the crash.
According to sources, the vehicle was being driven carelessly when, upon approaching the front of a business, the driver attempted to swerve left to avoid a pedestrian on the road. During the maneuver, the front left side of the car struck the pedestrian, after which the vehicle hit a concrete curb and the building's wall, subsequently overturning onto its right side.
As a result of the incident, both the driver and the pedestrian were transported to medical facilities in Nicosia. Driver Kazımcan Koçan continues treatment at the Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, while the injured Sulay Hatamova was transferred to Kolan British Hospital for further treatment.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident. The vehicle registration and the names of the injured are included in the official report; further details will be shared with the public as they become available.
