In Ortaköy, strong winds tore a water tank from a roof: a car was damaged

In the Ortaköy district of Nicosia, strong gusts of wind caused a dangerous incident. During the daytime on January 1, a plastic water tank with a capacity of about 1.5 tons was torn from the roof of an apartment building on Journalist Hasan Tahsin Street. The tank fell directly onto a car parked in the courtyard.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and took precautionary measures in case of a fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the vehicle sustained serious damage.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and checking whether the requirements for installing the tank on the building’s roof were complied with.
