Paris Hosts the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games, the XXXIII Olympiad, concluded in Paris. The grand closing ceremony was held on Sunday, August 11, at the Stade de France.

The ceremony began with the procession of participating countries' flags, followed by a parade of athletes and the awarding of the women’s marathon winners. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach then officially declared the games closed. The Olympic flame was ceremoniously extinguished by athletes from various countries.

The closing ceremony in Paris concluded with Frank Sinatra’s iconic song, “My Way.”

The Olympic flag was passed to the mayor of Los Angeles, where the next Summer Olympic Games will take place in 2028.

The Paris Olympic Games were held from July 26 to August 11.

The United States team topped the medal standings, securing a total of 126 medals—40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze.

China finished second with 91 medals: 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze.

Japan secured third place, albeit with a considerable gap, collecting 45 medals (20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze).

The only athlete from the TRNC at the Paris Olympic Games, Buse Savaşkan, represented the Turkish team. The high jumper finished in 10th place, clearing the bar at 1.86 meters. She has already returned home and did not participate in the closing ceremony.

The Turkish team finished 64th in the Paris Olympics with 8 medals. Turkish athletes were unable to secure any gold medals, earning 3 silver and 5 bronze instead.
