Infrastructure Improvements Underway in Six Areas of Girne to Address Water Supply Issues
Girne has launched significant infrastructure projects to improve its water supply system, with work currently underway in six key locations across the city. These efforts aim to provide a long-term solution to the city's ongoing water shortages.
Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul shared details of the initiative on his social media platform. According to the mayor, the municipality’s rapid growth has made the water supply from Turkey insufficient to meet local demand, especially during the summer months when shortages are most acute.
In response, the Republic of Turkey has begun investing in additional infrastructure to address the issue. The current projects are expected to resolve the water supply challenges over the long term.
However, Mayor Şenkul warned that the construction work might cause some temporary disruptions, including traffic delays, particularly in the Karmi and Edremit regions, where water supply upgrades are being carried out along major roadways.
Municipal authorities have assured residents that every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience caused by these improvements.
- "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Republic of Turkey for these essential infrastructure investments, which are critical for both our city and our country. I also thank our citizens for their patience and understanding during this process," the mayor stated.
